Kryolan is Official Supporter of the 28th SEA Games

The 28th SEA Games – Southeast Asian Games – returned to Singapore in 2015 and were an outstanding success. Over 12 days of sporting action, thousands of athletes from 11 countries competed in 402 events across 36 types of sports.

The Games’ Opening and Closing Ceremonies were held at the New National Stadium of Singapore, which has the world’s largest dome structure and a capacity for 55,000 people. Kryolan and its local partner Cosmoprof Academy were the official make-up partners for the ceremonies and provided make-up and hairstyling to over 2000 performers, torch bearers and sports heroes.

The highlight of the Opening Ceremony Show was “ACT 1: DNA”, where Supracolor in silver was used on over 800 performers. This was made possible by a team of 120 make-up artists from the Cosmoprof Academy. For the Closing Ceremony Show, Jos Brands, Head of Education for Kryolan and Make-up Artist Emilie Guillermin headed a team of 70 artists in order to paint 300 performers for the “Parade of Stamps”.

The Parade transformed iconic local postage stamps, documenting Singapore’s progress as a nation, into multi-dimensional spectacles. For Singaporeans, stamps are a symbol of reaching out to the rest of the world: “Every stamp that we send out to the world, carries a little bit of Singapore with it.” explained Beatrice Chia-Richmond, Creative Director of the parade. Amongst the shown stamps were historical ones which gave a glimpse into Singapore’s past as a British colony, a series of iconic landmarks of the country and of course a celebration of the people of Singapore with their various cultures, ethnic groups and communities.

Kryolan sponsored the face and body paints for the 300 performers in the Closing Ceremony and used a combination of products such as Supracolor, Aquacolor, Color Spray and Dual Finish. As Singapores tropical climate averages temperatures of 30 degree Celsius, Jos and the team were concerned about the make-up wearing off due to perspiration. Kryolan Fixing Spray had to be used to enhance staying power of the make-up. The 70 team members were split into different groups, each focusing on a different kind of look. Altogether there were more than 12 floats of stamps with different types of painting styles such as brush stroke painting, oil painting, face painting and airbrush. Jos made history come alive with his work of 2 Greek gods and Sir Stamford Raffles (Founder of Modern Singapore). During the show, a Greek god was suspended in the air as an aerial display.

Furthermore, Kryolan supported the event by sponsoring 380 make-up kits. The kits consisted of foundation, powder, lipstick, pencil and blusher. They were given to the Victory Parade volunteers and presenters who were featured in the victory ceremonies at each sporting venue. In the months leading up to the games, Cosmoprof Academy conducted 14 make-up workshops to teach these 380 Victory Parade volunteers how to do their own make-up using their Kryolan make-up kit.

In acknowledgement of Kryolan’s sponsorship, the organizer granted Kryolan the title “OFFICIAL SUPPORTER” of the 28th SEA Games.
At Kryolan, we make make-up. But not like anybody else. Because unlike everybody else, we actually make our make-up. We‘ve done it our own way for more than 70 years and three generations. We think of it. We manufacture it. Formulate it and love it into existence. There is only one real professional make-up maker. There is only one Kryolan.
